Have you tried Kimberbell's faux Embroidery Leather? It's soft, supple, and adds a dreamy dimension to machine embroidery projects. I love how faux leather brings an authentic touch to applique designs!
For example, this fudge pop from Kimberbell's Two Scoops Bench Pillow was done with chocolatey Embroidery Leather. The smooth texture makes this design look like a real dipped dessert!
Embroidery Leather holds stitches very well and is quite easy to work with. Having said that, I've got just a few tips for achieving beautiful results! 😀
The right stabilizer is an important part of machine embroidery success. Our Product Development Team works with faux leather a LOT and they've compiled a list of their favorite stabilizers for you!
When stitching on leather, try these Kimberbell stabilizers:
When trimming, pay attention to the angle of the scissors. Faux leather often has a contrasting color on the underside, which will show in the finished project if it's trimmed at an angle.
When pressing faux leather, always use a pressing cloth to protect the material. Also note that Embroidery Leather is hand wash or dry clean only!
Speaking of faux leather, many of you are having a whole lotta fun with Kimberbell Snap Trays! Made from faux leather PVC, these embroiderable blanks snap easily together to form a tray.
Just add your favorite embroidery design, then snap the corners together. Voila! A tray. 😍
Psssst! Our new red and tan colors will be released on August 20, 2025, along with our new Everyday Appliques, Vol. 2 collection. 👀
