4th of July Frosting

Ingredients
  • 4 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 pkg. (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix (you can choose another flavor if desired)
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • Food coloring (optional)
Directions
  1. In a large, chilled bowl, combine the whipping cream and instant pudding mix.
  2. Using an electric mixer, beat cream and pudding on medium speed until the liquid begins to thicken to a gravy-like consistency.
  3. Gradually add the powdered sugar, continuing to beat on medium speed until stiff peaks form. At this point, stop mixing so the frosting is not overmixed.
  4. For best results, frost your cake immediately and chill for two hours prior to serving. Make sure to refrigerate any leftover frosting or cake!
Tips

This recipe works with all flavors of instant pudding mix. Try them all! If you want to add food coloring, do so prior to adding the powdered sugar. Additional food coloring may be added while frosting is at the soft peaks stage. (The later you add the food coloring, the harder it is to mix it in all the way.)

Happy Independence Day from Kimberbell!
