Beyond Words

My job here at Kimberbell is all about words. I think of words. I write words. I edit words. As the copywriter, it's kind of my thing.

But . . .when it comes to Happy Place Embroidery Projects, I'm finding myself at a loss for words. These projects are just SO stunning and SO unique and SO unbelievable that words are actually failing me.

This doesn't happen to me very often, so please hang in there with me and I'll do my best to describe this incredible product coming soon to your favorite quilt shop! 👏

Rope Bowls

Okay, I have a confession. I didn't actually know you COULD do stuff like this with an embroidery and sewing machine! These beautiful bowls are so classy, like something you'd buy at a high-end store. Take a look!

Happy Place 1

But you don't have to buy them at a high-end store, you can make them at home! (And then you can make even more of them for all of your family and friends . . .and then one for every room in your house . . . 😊)

Please note that you'll use both your embroidery machine AND your sewing machine to create the bowls.

Three Simple Steps

The people on our Product Development Team are absolute geniuses. I'm not kidding. They worked very hard on developing this technique (going through many iterations along the way) until they NAILED IT.

With our technique, creating a bowl is as easy as 1-2-3!

#1: CREATE THE BASE AND STITCH THE DESIGN ON YOUR EMBROIDERY MACHINE

You'll start by stitching the design on your embroidery machine. After this step is over, you'll remove the circular base from the hoop.

Base

Tip: You'll use Medium Cut-Away, Fusible Backing, and Shape Form Interfacing for this project!

#2: ATTACH PROJECT ROPE TO THE BASE WITH A WIDE ZIG-ZAG STITCH

Next, you'll take the base design to your sewing machine and start coiling your Kimberbell Project Rope round and round the base, stitching as you go with a wide zig-zag stitch.

Tip: For this step, you'll also want a water-soluble pen, Kimberbell Paper Tape, and a fray preventative product.

#3: ADD FINISHING TOUCHES WITH HANDLES, KNOTS, BEADS, TAGS, AND MORE

You have the option in your directions to make your bowl with OR without handles. (Just another hidden gem in a Kimberbell project!) When you're finished, personalize your bowl with fun embellishments.

Tip: Our Happy Place Embroidery Projects Embellishment Kit includes a variety of leather tags, tassels, and beads! You can get this kit at your favorite quilt shop or wherever Kimberbell products are sold.

Well, that's a quick overview of how the rope bowls come together! Remember, our step-by-step instructions are MUCH more detailed and will walk you through the whole process, including making a coaster instead. . .

Coasters

. . .Because rope bowls aren't the only things you can make with this collection! Take a look at this stunning coaster.

Coaster

Something this sophisticated looks like it probably takes a long time to make, right? Nope. You won't believe how quickly these come together! And just think of the gifting possibilities for weddings or housewarmings!

Designs

We just looked at the rope bowl and coaster options. But what about using the designs on other things? You can stitch these designs on just about anything, including this tote bag here. (Cute, huh?)

Tote

Here's another idea (and also a silly behind-the-scenes story):

During the photo shoot for these projects, I happened to stop by the shoot to drop something off and they were like, "Hey, Jenny. Why don't you put this shirt and apron on and go and stand over there?"

And then they took my picture. 😳 Yep, this is me, NOT knowing I'd be in this photo shoot. (I'm telling you, it's never a dull moment around here. Kimberbell keeps me on my toes!)

Photo surprises notwithstanding, I hope this gives you an idea of the many, MANY things you can do with these embroidery designs.

Six Designs, Two Sizes Each

The six designs in this collection include: Happy Place, Flower Bouquet, Strawberries & Lemons, Mandala, Bird's Nest, and Hello Sunshine.

Bowls

I think they're all so beautiful. (Which is your favorite?) Mine might be the Strawberries & Lemons. Or maybe the Bird's Nest. Oh shoot, I like them all. I can't choose. But each design comes in two sizes!

So Many Options, So Many Uses

While writing this post, I took a good, close look at the instructions and WOW, there are so many options! Short, medium, and tall bowls. Optional handles. Decorative stripes. Various sizes.

I'm telling you, the (very thorough!) instructions provide a whole lot of creative options. (Shout out to the dedicated team who work SO hard on Kimberbell instructions!)  👏

And after you're done making them, there are so many uses for the finished product! What would you do with a rope bowl? Sewing tools? Bath supplies? Fruit basket? Share your ideas in the comments below!
