If you were to ask what my favorite part of machine embroidery is, I might just say the embellishments. Like sprinkles on ice cream, embellishments add interest and dimension that make everything that much better.
I thought it would be fun to tickle your creativity by looking at some of our favorite embellishments. From feature quilts to bench pillows and more, Kimberbell embellishments add a wow factor to any project!
Applique Glitter
Kimberbell Applique Glitter is a heat transfer vinyl that works with machine embroidery and sewing projects. If your project calls for applique fabric, you can simply use Applique Glitter instead!
This embellishment never ceases to dazzle me. (I guess the little girl in me will always love sparkles!) And the best part? Unlike glitter you'll find in a jar, Applique Glitter NEVER makes a mess.
Notice how Applique Glitter transforms this leprechaun hat (from Kimberbell Cuties, Vol. 2: January-June) into something truly magical! ✨
Buttons
I'm a sucker for buttons . . .especially designer buttons that go with specific Kimberbell projects! (And we have a lot of different buttons that are REALLY fun.)
For example, take a look at this block from Kimberbell's Vintage Boardwalk feature quilt. The hot dog, ice cream, and frozen pop treats are buttons designed especially for this project! (See Summer Days buttons.)
Even if you don't have designer buttons, a regular button goes a long way in adding a pop of dimension!
Embroidery Felt
Embroidery Felt adds a soft texture to machine embroidery projects. For example, this pie (from Kimberbell's Sweet as Pie Bench Pillow) has a lattice pie crust made of Embroidery Felt.
From gingerbread men to animals and more, Embroidery Felt is a warm and wonderful embellishment for a variety of projects!
Embroidery Leather
Have you ever used Embroidery Leather? It's so much fun! Kimberbell Embroidery Leather is smooth and supple and a dream to stitch on.
We used the silver leather for the realistic-looking pie plate in the image above, but it also comes in a variety of other colors, too! (I'll take a scoop of pink Embroidery Leather on an Embroidery Felt cone, please!)
Mylar
Mylar adds a beautiful, subtle shimmer to embroidery designs. It's fun to stitch on and you can easily rip the excess away!
On our Quilting Through the Seasons Ladder Quilt, we used Mylar for the gold frame around the bee as well as on the bee's dimensional wings. See how it just adds that perfect touch of glimmer and gleam?
Velveteen
Kimberbell Velveteen adds a gorgeous, lush dimension to your designs. It's super soft and oh-so touchable! For example, we used Velveteen for this sweet bunny from Kimberbell Cuties, Vol 2: January-June.
Velveteen comes in a wide array of luxurious colors. And it's all so, so beautiful.
Vinyl
Okay, here's a confession: I think Clear Vinyl might be my very favorite Kimberbell embellishment. (Don't tell!) I love how it gives a realistic appearance for windows, canning jars, glasses, and more! I just love it.
Take a look at this lemonade from Kimberbell's Mini Quilts, Vol. 1: January-June. (This is the June quilt.) I just can't get over how the vinyl makes the glass look like a real glass!
Other Embellishments
