Stabilizer Spotlight: Project Batting
Kimberbell Project Batting is one of our favorite stabilizers. If you're familiar with Kimberbell, you'll know that we love adding delightful quilting details to feature quilts, zipper pouches, mug rugs, and more! And Kimberbell Project Batting plays a BIG role in these projects.
Come to think of it...I used Project Batting just last night while making a Mug Rug! 😊 It's just one of those staples every machine embroiderer should have on hand. Let's take a look!
What is Project Batting?
Kimberbell Project Batting gives dimension, texture, and stability to a variety of projects. It's a thin, soft, and pliable layer of goodness that adds cushiony-but-not-too-cushiony depth. (Think the inside of a baby blanket.)
Why Use Project Batting?
Our project batting is absolutely perfect for a quilt sandwich. Simply layer the batting between your back fabric and top fabric, then quilt your project right in your embroidery machine! It's just the right thickness.
See that beige strip at the bottom of the image below? That's Project Batting between two layers of fabric.
How is Kimberbell Project Batting Different?
Made in the USA, Kimberbell Project Batting is made of 85% soft cotton fiber with a 15% polyester scrim (the polyester is woven throughout the batting). This prevents pulling or tearing with repeated stitches.
Because Kimberbell Project Batting has more cotton in the mix, it's softer and has more loft than other products on the market. Quilting stitches are absolutely beautiful on Kimberbell Project Batting!
The 15% polyester scrim acts as a stabilizer, too, so no additional stabilizer is needed while you're stitching through a quilt sandwich.
Oh, and because it's made of all-natural fibers, Kimberbell Project Batting is easier on your needles and keeps them sharper for longer!
Where Can I Find Kimberbell Project Batting?
You can find Kimberbell Project Batting at your favorite quilt shop. Because it's a Specialty Stabilizer, you're looking for GREEN packaging.
