The cat's out of the bag! (Well, technically...the fox is out of the box. 🙂) Either way, Kimberbell and Shannon Fabrics have teamed up to bring you Cuddle® Buddies for sewing and machine embroidery!
Cuddle® Buddies include our much-loved Kimberbear AND a brand-new friend, Felix the Fox. (Fun fact: the fox is named after the child in the picture above!) Cuddle® Buddies projects are ideal for beginners and perfect for baby shower gifts, special occasions, charitable donations, and so much more.
Now, because there are a lot of choices with Cuddle® Buddies, I'm going to try to break it all down so you understand what's available (and where). To start with, here's a good rule of thumb:
- Sewing: Go to your favorite quilt shop for Cuddle® Buddies Kits by Shannon Fabrics.
- Machine embroidery: Go to kimberbell.com for downloadable machine embroidery files.
Let's explore the differences in each option, beginning with the kits!
Cuddle® Buddies Kits (Sewing)
Distributed by Shannon Fabrics, Cuddle® Buddies Kits are available through your favorite quilt shop. Choose between the Kimberbear kit OR the Felix the Fox kit OR...maybe get both? (I certainly don't know which I'd choose! They're both so darling.) 🙂
Here's what you receive in each kit.
Kimberbear Kit
- The pattern and fabric for making the stuffed animal.
- The pattern and fabric (both pink and blue!) for making the coordinating baby blanket.
- Fabric for the Kimberbear applique (shown on the blanket).
- Step-by-step sewing instructions.
NOTE: The patterns in the Kimberbear Cuddle® Buddies Kit are for creating the bear and the blanket with a SEWING MACHINE. (Keep scrolling for our machine embroidery options!)
Felix the Fox Kit
The Felix the Fox Cuddle® Buddies Kit includes:
- The pattern and fabric for making the stuffed animal.
- The pattern and fabric for making the coordinating baby blanket.
- Fabric for the fox applique (shown on the blanket).
- Step-by-step sewing instructions.
Again, the patterns in the Felix the Fox Cuddle® Buddies Kit are for creating the projects on a SEWING MACHINE.
NOTE: If you plan to stitch the stuffed animals or appliques with your embroidery machine, you can certainly use the gorgeous fabrics from the kits. However, you'll also need the embroidery files from kimberbell.com.

Felix the Fox Applique
From his bright, bushy head to the tip of his tail, our Felix applique is giftable, huggable, and oh-so loveable. Purchase and download the embroidery file HERE and stitch the Felix applique in a 5x7 hoop!
NOTE: The applique pattern in the Cuddle® Buddies Kit is for sewing only. The machine embroidery appliques are a separate purchase/download from kimberbell.com.
